Corals that live higher on the reef need a warmer light color (Kelvin). Corals that live deeper need a higher Kelvin (more blue light). Some corals live at depths of up to 50 meters where there is virtually no light. These corals have a fluorescent color that makes it easier for them to live in deep water through photosynthesis. These species will not appreciate a lot of light and do better under more blue or lower PAR.
Deepwater Corals
The use of the amount of blue light is a much discussed point. If you only use white light, you will not be very impressed by the ultra colors, as they only become visible when you use more blue in your lighting. Deepwater corals are increasingly popular because of their beautiful colors, which means that the most beautiful photos of corals appear on the internet.
Photography and Lighting
These photos were taken under blue light, which makes the colors clearer after photo editing. That is why we take the photos under blue lighting to show what makes the coral so special. As you see the corals in the photos, you will also see them in real life in our shop. (please note that colors may differ per screen)
Our Lighting Choice
We keep the corals under LED, namely under Ecotech Radio Gen 6.

Good to know
• Blue light changes the intensity of the fluorescent color, not the color itself.
• At Dreamcorals, photo editing is used to create clarity, not to mislead.
• A normal coral does not become an Ultra coral under blue light, an Ultra coral does become a normal coral under white light.
